Boilers we service: Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Ideal, Viessmann and Glow-worm

Servicing for the main makes, with a record that matches what each maker asks for to keep the warranty valid.

We service the gas boiler makes most common in London homes: Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Ideal, Viessmann and Glow-worm. Each maker has its own service steps and warranty rules. Most ask for a yearly service by a Gas Safe registered engineer to keep the guarantee valid, so check your certificate and keep every service record.

Your boiler

Who made your boiler?

The name is usually on the front panel.

You need this when

If one of these sounds like your boiler, it is time to book.

  • Your boiler is still inside its maker's guarantee period
  • You are not sure if your warranty needs a yearly service
  • You have a boiler from one of the main makes and it is due a service
  • The Benchmark checklist in your manual has no service entries
  • You need the model and age confirmed for a warranty claim
  • You have moved into a home and want to know what boiler you have

What happens,
step by step.

  1. 01

Tell us the make and model

The make and model are on the front or under the front panel. The data badge, often under the boiler, gives the model and serial number.

  2. 02

    Service to the maker's steps

The engineer follows the service instructions for your model, including the combustion figures the maker expects.

  3. 03

    Warranty extras

Where a maker asks for something specific, such as a filter being maintained, it is checked and noted.

  4. 04

    Benchmark record

The service section of the Benchmark checklist in your manual is filled in, along with a written service record.

What each maker says about servicing

These are taken from each maker's own pages, checked in October 2026. Terms change and depend on your model and when it was fitted, so always read your own guarantee certificate.

| Maker | What they say | |---|---| | Worcester Bosch | Yearly servicing is a condition of the guarantee and must be completed each year, by a Gas Safe registered engineer for gas boilers. | | Vaillant | The boiler must be serviced annually by a Vaillant or other Gas Safe registered engineer, following the maker's instructions. The service cost is not part of the guarantee. | | Baxi | The Baxi 800 range 10 year warranty depends on registration within 30 days, the Benchmark checklist, an annual service, and the supplied magnetic filter being fitted and maintained. | | Ideal | Warranties run from 2 to 12 years depending on model, and may be limited to 12 months if not registered within 30 days. Check your certificate for service terms. | | Viessmann | Owners must register and have the product serviced annually to qualify for cover beyond the first year. | | Glow-worm | Register within 30 days of installation. Check your certificate for service terms. |

What the service covers on any make

Whatever the badge says, a gas boiler service covers the same core checks: gas pressure, burner, heat exchanger, seals, fan, electrodes, condensate trap, flue and a combustion test. The maker's instructions set the order, the figures the combustion test should hit and any model specific parts, such as an air and gas ratio check after the burner has been removed.

In London homes we also check hot water flow on combis because of hard water, and the magnetic filter if one is fitted. On Baxi boilers sold with a filter, keeping it clean is part of the warranty wording above.

Finding your model and age

The model is usually printed on the front panel, such as Worcester Greenstar, Vaillant ecoTEC, Baxi 600 or 800, Ideal Logic or Vogue, Viessmann Vitodens or Glow-worm Energy. The data badge, often on the underside or behind the front panel, lists the model and serial number. Makers can usually tell the age from the serial number.

The Benchmark checklist at the back of the installation manual records the install date and each service. If you cannot find the manual, our post on finding your boiler service history explains other places to look.

Warranty repairs

If your boiler breaks down inside its guarantee, contact the maker first. Most run their own repair service for boilers in warranty. A service by any Gas Safe registered engineer usually counts for the guarantee as long as it follows the maker's instructions and is recorded, but repairs under warranty are normally booked through the maker.

Gas work in the UK must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Ask to see the ID card and check it on the Gas Safe Register.

Price

What affects the price

The make makes little difference to the price of a standard service. Model specific parts, such as gaskets the maker says must be replaced when the burner is removed, can add to it.

Good questions.
Clear answers.

What people ask about boilers we service in London.

Just ask us
Does my service need to be done by the maker to keep the warranty?

Usually not. Worcester Bosch and Vaillant both accept a Gas Safe registered engineer following their instructions. Check your own certificate, as extended warranty schemes can have extra terms.

I missed a service by a few weeks. Is my warranty gone?

Not always. Contact the maker, explain, and get the service done as soon as possible. Some makers are flexible, others are not. Our advice post on missed services covers what to do.

Do you service oil or LPG boilers?

This site covers mains gas boilers in London. Oil boilers need an OFTEC registered technician and LPG work needs the right Gas Safe category.

Do you service older boilers that are out of warranty?

Yes. Older boilers often need a service more, not less. The engineer will tell you if parts are getting hard to find.
